About the NPPA Advocacy Committe

“NPPA vigorously promotes freedom of the press in all its forms.”

-excerpt from the NPPA mission statement.

Welcome to the NPPA Advocacy Committee Blog.

While important news for photographers will continue to be posted to the main website, we hope that this will be a resource for those interested in learning more about advocacy issues including copyrights, First Amendment issues and other issues affecting the industry.

The National Press Photographers Association’s Advocacy Committee is led by the NPPA attorneys Mickey H. Osterreicher, Esq., and Alicia Wagner Calzada, who work to further the NPPA’s mission of advancing photojournalism by addressing local and federal policy issues that affect our members’ ability to provide the public with news images. The official spokesperson of the NPPA is always the sitting president and all advocacy committee activity is done with the knowledge and approval of the president who is automatically a member of the committee. The Advocacy Committee also includes NPPA leaders Bob Carey, Mindy Hutchinson, Todd Maisel, Greg Smith and Tony Overman.

Yours Truly,

The NPPA Advocacy Committee
