Four years ago we added the NPPA Photojournalism Award for Reporting.  Each year the entries keep getting better and better.  The judges came up with 6 great finalists.

They narrowed it down to three and that’s when the real discussion began.  After telling them there couldn’t be a three way tie, they began comparing stories and came up a runner up and winner.

The Judge’s also have the option of giving a “Judges’ Choice Award” to the story they feel best exemplifies the ideals of television photojournalism. The winner will be chosen from among the full set of entries in all categories.  Each Judge decided they wanted to give their own award this year.

They also gave a photography web award to  ”In Beichuan, China, the Agony of Surviving”  from Travis Fox  (washingtonpost.com)

The editing judges gave their award to “MSU Band I” from Troy Hale (Michigan State University)
